It should not be difficult to teach prepositions to your ESL students. Sure, prepositions a bit 'more difficult because they are more a concept than a word. However, students are probably familiar with these words in their native language so they can begin rapidly.
Here are five of my favorite ideas for teaching prepositions:
Before Use flash card games. You probably have some flash cards illustrating the different prepositions. If not, thenYou can print some free or make your own. You can play these bingo cards, memory or your favorite games.
According say otherwise. Most prepositions are opposed. It 'a big challenge for students to say the opposite. For example, if you say "in", say they have "out". There is an added challenge when they show a map and tell them the opposite because your first reaction is to say what the map.
Third Place the toy. Give each student a toy. I likeSmall pets to use plastic. Sitting in a circle, and as a group, the practice with prepositions, by each of the animal "before you", or "head". Then each student say their animal placed somewhere for the class - under the chair "or" port ". If students are more advanced, you can say, another student, where they put their pets.
As the fourth group. One thing I found very funny is that guide students through the room. Say"Everyone standing next to the sink!" and if everyone is going to move to a new location. If you are very brave, loyal, and young students, you can tell jump "on me." or "stay with me."
Fifth Create an obstacle course. Set up an obstacle course around the small classroom with tables, chairs, and anything you might have in class. Students have always active and is said to crawl under the table "and" walk to the chair three times. "
These areonly some of my favorite ideas to teach your students the prepositions ESL. I hope to be able to find something that you work with your students.
